Club America Injury News: Brian Rodriguez Cleared for Pachuca, Zendejas and Carlos Alvarez in Doubt per Report

Brian Rodríguez is available and will start for Club América against Pachuca on Sunday. According to Gibrán Araige of TUDN, the Uruguayan winger has cleared the injury rumors that followed him this week and is in line to start the Jornada 14 match at Estadio Banorte.

The doubts sit elsewhere in the squad. TUDN reports América closed their preparation on Saturday with Alejandro Zendejas and Carlos Álvarez both in doubt, and that Guillermo Almada does not want to risk either player, with everything pointing to neither being used against Pachuca.

The reasoning is the calendar. Per TUDN, Almada wants both players at full fitness for the final stretch of the regular season and the Liguilla rather than gamble on Sunday, even with first place still in play. No parte médico has been issued for Zendejas, who was substituted at Atlas on Wednesday after an injury stoppage in that match, and no diagnosis has been made public for either player.

There is one return. Dagoberto Espinoza is recovered and available again after missing the midweek win at Atlas. América are already without Raphael Veiga, who needs shoulder surgery, as the club announced on Friday, so losing Zendejas and Álvarez as well would leave the attacking band thin behind Rodríguez.

América host Pachuca on Sunday night, October 25, at Estadio Banorte. In the United States the match is on TUDN and ViX, and full viewing information is in our Club América watch page.
