The newest franchise in the Liga MX, Mazatlan F.C., is slowly building up heading into the 2020 Apertura season. Several former Monarcas Morelia players are signing for this new team, but not all are locks.

One of the best former Morelia players, Aldo Rocha, had heavy interest from other teams like Chivas de Guadalajara and Club America. However, this Sunday, June 14, Mazatlan F.C. officially announced that Rocha and the club had reached an agreement.

This agreement does not guarantee that Rocha will stay with the port city team, but it is unlikely that the Mexican midfielder will move before next year. Rocha was having a great season before the league was suspended as he had scored five goals in 10 games.

The majority of these goals came from the penalty spot, but Rocha was proving to be more versatile than initially perceived. Rocha does have better defensive qualities than offensive ones, but he can help offensively when needed.

Initial rumors suggested that Rocha was headed to Chivas in a deal that sent veteran Juan Jose Vazquez to Mazatlan, but the rumors have died down since then.
