Chivas of Guadalajara can breathe after their close 1-0 away win at the always difficult Estadio Caliente. The rebaño sagrado played a very good first half against Xolos of Tijuana where they dominated especially on the right-wing attack led by Uriel Antuna.
Antuna had been highly criticized this past week after a series of bad misses in last week’s game against Cruz Azul. The pressure put on him was not because those misses led to a loss, but because the team had been unable to win in five consecutive league games.

Early in the 3rd minute against Xolos, Antuna took a nice pass down the right-line. Using his best weapon which is his speed, he was able to easily get past the Tijuana defender. He then made a beautiful forward ground pass out of any defenders’ reach to the left foot of J.J. Macias.
Goalkeeper Gibran Lajud was unable to do anything about it, leading to the first and only goal of the game. While this was an early goal, Chivas was able to dominate the rest of the first half, especially after Mauro Lainez from Xolos was later given a red card.
With the win, Chivas can once again breathe, as they now have 9 points and sit closer to the top-8 of the standings.
