This is the best match-up of the CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16, featuring a powerful Leon squad from the Liga MX, and LAFC, a team that should be fighting for the MLS title. It’s a shame that the MLS schedules its matches in a way that handicaps its own team in the CCL, it would be great to see LAFC in rhythm go against one of the hottest sides in the Liga MX.
The first match will be held in Leon, against an LAFC squad that has not yet begun playing its MLS season. Leon currently sit in third place of the Liga MX and will be looking to liquidate the series at home against LAFC. Los Angeles has the latent to win the CCL, but being out of rhythm will cost them, and I simply don’t see them being able to defeat a red-hot Leon squad. Nonetheless, it would not be a great upset if LAFC pulls off the result.
