The Costa Rica vs Canada Women’s Olympic Qualifier match will take place this Friday, February 7, 2020 (4:00 PM Pacific).
Costa Rica face a very difficult challenge against a Canadian team that won its group by a combined score of 22-0. Canada poured on the goals against Jamaica and St Kitts, and defeated a good Mexican team 2-0. That victory over Mexico ensured Canada won its group, and most importantly, avoided playing the USWNT in the knockout stage.
Costa Rica made it to this round by earning a second place spot in Group A, defeating Haiti and Panama, though they took a 6-0 beating from the USWNT. Costa Rica will have to defeat Canada in order to earn a spot in the Summer Olympics.
Canada should be able to comfortably dominate the match and ultimately earn its way in to the Summer Olympics. Costa Rica simply does not have the talent to be able to pose a serious threat to the Canadian squad. Expect Canada to win 3-0.
