This Tuesday, December 18, 2019, Cruz Azul’s latest signing Sebastian Jurado completed his medical exams for the team in Mexico City. Jurado was one of the most sought after players in this transfer window as he was a free agent, but La Maquina acquired him despite already having another solid goalkeeper.

Jurado will compete with veteran keeper Jose de Jesus Corona for a starting role as it will be tough to get minutes. It seems unlikely that the 22-year-old goalkeeper will get many minutes this upcoming season as he gears up for when Corona leaves the club.
Corona will serve as a mentor for the young Jurado as it will be very beneficial for the youngster to learn from the 38-year-old. Jurado was one of the lone bright spots on a horrible Veracruz team in the past couple of seasons as he seems to be in the future plans for the Mexico national team.
Corona seems to have one or two more seasons left in him as Cruz Azul decided to secure their future with no transfer fee to a club. It will be interesting to see if Jurado benefits from having Corona as a mentor or if the lack of playing time stunts his growth, which is also a possibility.
