This Monday, December 16, 2019, it was officially announced by the Vancouver Whitecaps that the Canadian team had signed Lucas Cavallini from Liga MX team Puebla. The Canadian striker had spent the last few seasons with Puebla as he signed with La Franja back in the 2017 Apertura season.

Cavallini had a successful stint with Los Camoteros scoring 29 goals in 75 appearances for the club. The 26-year-old solidified his career in the Liga MX, gaining a lot of attention from the Canadian national team recently.

Cavallini has been impressive with Canada now with 11 goals in just 17 appearances as he racks up more caps for his country. The 26-year-old was previously linked to big clubs in Mexico like Club America and Cruz Azul and even had rumors that Turkish giants Galatasaray were after him.

Vancouver clearly had some competition in the pursuit of Cavallini as the Canadian team had to fork up a club-record transfer fee of six million dollars. The Canadian striker is being presented as a big star for Vancouver and it is suitable as he is a figure on the national team.
