The 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup is set to begin this June 15 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. This year’s edition of the international tournament is unique because it will have three host nations, as Jamaica and Costa Rica will hold group opening double headers.
Canada is set to open the Gold Cup with the first match of Group A against the island nation of Martinique. Mexico vs Cuba will be the second match of Group A, which will also be held at the Rose Bowl. Mexico is the clear favorite to win all its group matches and easily qualify to the next stage in the tournament. Canada should clinch the second placed spot, but don’t be surprised if Martinique steals the spot. Cuba is unlikely to move on to the knockout stage.
Group B has Costa Rica, Haiti, Nicaragua and Bermuda. Costa Rica is the big favorite to win the group, with Haiti likely to claim the second spot.
Group C is made up of Honduras, Jamaica, El Salvador and Curacao. Jamaica and Honduras are certainly favored to take over the one and two spots.
USA, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana make up the four teams in Group D. USA is the clear favorite to win, with Trinidad & Tobago expected to finish second.
