Liga MX: Do or die time for Chelis and Puebla

The Apertura 2015 tournament was the last time Puebla made the Liga MX playoffs and since then the team has had mediocre to average tournaments at best. La Franja is currently sitting in eighth place with 19 points and the hope of making the playoffs is buzzing around the city.

Manager Jose Luis Sanchez Sola has made a heavy impact on the team since returning for his fourth stint with the club in Week 7 of the Clausura 2019. Los Camoteros have three wins, two draws and just one loss under the leadership of “Chelis” and the team’s chemistry has also clearly improved.

“Chelis” has also made an impact with the fan base as attendance numbers at the Estadio Cuauhtemoc have improved drastically since Sanchez Sola took charge. Puebla will host Monarcas Morelia at the Cuauhtemoc this Friday, April 5, 2019, as this is a must-win game for La Franja.

There are only five games left in the Clausura 2019 regular season and this game against Morelia is by far the least complicated. After this match against La Monarquia, Puebla will play Leon at home, Chivas away, Tigres UANL at home and finish off the tournament away against Club Tijuana.

If Puebla has any real chance at making the playoffs, Los Camoteros must win this game against Monarcas Morelia, who is sitting in 16th place with seven points. “The Chelis Boys” are coming off a dominant 4-0 win against crosstown rivals Lobos BUAP and should be more motivated than ever to win this match.
