Club America has not had an ideal season so far, currently hanging onto a playoff spot in eighth place with just 13 points. Los Azulcremas have only won one game in their last four Liga MX matches and are coming off a rough 2-2 draw against Monarcas Morelia away from home.
Centre-back Bruno Valdez inclusively received a red card in that clash and his absence could make an impact in this encounter. French forward Jeremy Menez is also coming back from an injury and should get minutes in this game against Los Rayos.
Necaxa started off the tournament immensely, but is now winless in its last six games in all competitions. Guillermo Vazquez has a limited squad to work with and the most talented player is clearly Argentine forward Brian Fernandez, who has scored eight goals.
Fernandez can be a catalyst for Vazquez’s attack, but he does not have much to work with as other players like Angel Sepulveda and Eduardo Herrera have been very inconsistent. Los Rayos midfield and backline are also a liability and this should be a very tough game for the team from Aguascalientes, especially at the Estadio Azteca.
