Atlas started off the Liga MX 2019 Clausura season with an impressive 2-1 road win against Queretaro. Los Zorros had no away wins in the 2018 Apertura tournament and this is already a better start than last season.
It took Atlas 631 minutes to score its first goal last season, but it scored two in the season opener this year. New signings Osvaldo Martinez and Jesus Isijara both scored for Guillermo Hoyos’ team in the opener and already made a significant impact in the midfield.
Club America is the current Liga MX champions, but did not play in the opening week of the season. The Mexico City team has not made any significant signings in the offseason and inclusively lost Joe Corona and Diego Lainez in the transfer window as well.
Chilean striker Nicolas Castillo is heavily linked to Miguel Herrera’s side, but for now, the attack will have to do with players like Oribe Peralta and Roger Martinez. The midfield is still one of the best in the midfield with Guido Rodriguez and Mateus Uribe and the defense is also solid led by Bruno Valdez and Agustin Marchesin in net.
