This Thursday, December 27, 2018, Cruz Azul officially announced the signing of 28-year-old midfielder Yoshimar Yotun. Los Cementeros lost the 2018 Apertura final to archrivals Club America and have now been one of the most active teams in the current transfer window.

Ricardo Pelaez rebuilt this Cruz Azul team in the last transfer window and has now added Yotun, Orbelin Pineda and Jonathan Rodriguez. La Maquina has also lost a few players like Angel Mena and Andres Renteria, but overall has improved.

Yotun has been playing professionally since 2008, where he began his professional career with Sporting Cristal in his native Peru. The Peruvian midfielder also had loan spells to Jose Galvez and Vasco da Gama before joining Swedish team Malmo in 2015.

Yotun has over 50 appearances with Malmo from 2015-2017 before joining Orlando City in the MLS. Orlando is Yotun’s most recent team and he scored five goals in 32 appearances for the club.

The 28-year-old was at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and has been a regular on the Peru national team for several years now with 78 total appearances for Los Incas.
