This Monday, December 24, 2018, Pachuca officially announced the signing of 26-year-old Colombian attacking midfielder Edwin Cardona from Boca Juniors. Cardona had been playing in Argentina since 2017, but had previously played in the Liga MX with Monterrey.

The Colombia international began his professional career in his native country with Atletico Nacional in 2009. Cardona played with Los Verdolagas until 2014 and also had loan spells with Santa Fe and Junior F.C.

“El Gordo” had a decent tenure at Monterrey, but was also a polarizing figure with the fan base. Cardona has always been a very talented player, but his attitude and work rate can sometimes raise controversy, like a racial incident with a South Korean player that kept him out of the 2018 World Cup.

The 26-year-old plays best centrally as an attacking midfielder with his passing, technical and shooting abilities. Cardona is a very creative player and can also be lethal on set pieces and from long-range.

Pachuca has made several signings in this transfer window and now have a very menacing attack with Victor Guzman, Ismael Sosa, Victor Davila, Franco Jara and Edwin Cardona.
