Manchester United are in a bad situation, could Jose Mourinho’s time be up?

After Manchester United finished second on the Premier League standings last season, many fans and pundits took this as a sign of progress. This was, after all, the Red Devils’ highest top-flight finish since the retirement of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.

However, things appear to be regressing this season. After several games played this season, Jose Mourinho’s troops have taken 10 points and lie in 10th position on the standings with a goal deficit of -2.

They have not won during their past four games in all competitions and played out to a 0-0 draw against Valencia in the Champions League on Wednesday. The outcome of the game was certainly not the worst that we have seen from a United side in the Champions League, but the once mighty team were lucky to not lose against the Spanish side at Old Trafford.

Valencia created the better chances and while they will be content to have taken a point from the game, they could have had all three had a bit of luck swung in their favor.

During their last Premier League encounter against West Ham last Saturday, they lost 3-1. This was a game that most fans would have expected the team to take three points from, especially considering that West Ham had begun the season in poor form.

The veteran Mark Noble, who many believe has passed his sell-by date, caused tremendous problems for the United midfield on the day and exposed the weaknesses that exist within.

Manchester United are not looking like a serious threat for silverware this season. Could Mourinho’s time be soon to end?

Well, considering that the former Chelsea boss very rarely stays at a club beyond three seasons, there is a serious case to be made for that. This is also his third season as manager of United.

This is United’s worst start to a Premier League season in 29-years and surely, if things do not improve soon, Mourinho will be getting the sack. That would explain why free bet offers are coming in at 8/11 for Mourinho to get sacked. As hard as it would have been to believe this just last season, Mourinho is currently the favorite to be the next EPL coach to be fired from his position. The bookies believe that Mourinho will be unable to resolve locker room issues, and will be the out the door season, ready to move on for 2-3 seasons at another high-paying spot, probably repeating his cycle of quick success followed by just as quick failure.

Zinedine Zidane is available after parting ways with Real Madrid at the end of last season. The Frenchman has what it takes to win major things as he proved by guiding Madrid to three successive Champions League titles.

United will also be aware that the 46-year-old will not be available for much longer if they do not take action. Therefore, if Mourinho does not manage to immediately improve the results within the next few games, it would be logical to part ways with Mou.

It also does appear that Mou has lost the trust of the boardroom and the players and he is reported to have been long at odds with Paul Pogba.

Negative chemistry within a sides internal affairs is a recipe for poor results.

United may not have a side which is strong enough to win the Premier League but they do have a side which is capable of finishing in the top four, at least on paper. To achieve their best, they need a good guiding figure. Mourinho does not appear to be that figure.
