Diego Armando Maradona was part of one of the most shocking transactions in football this year as it was recently announced that the Argentine icon would be the manager of Dorados de Sinaloa. The team from Culiacan is struggling in Mexico’s second-tier league and the ambitious ownership led by Jorgealberto Hank opted to go for the legendary figure to replace Francisco Ramirez on the sidelines.
Dorados currently has just three points from seven games this season, but does have a solid squad for Mexico’s second-tier league. This includes several former Liga MX players like Jesus Chavez, Fernando Arce Jr., Edson Rivera, Jesus Escoboza, Julio Nava and Jose Alberto Garcia.
The current team captain is Jesus Chavez, who has had a very extensive career in Mexican soccer dating back more than a decade. The 32-year-old has played with several Liga MX teams in the past including Tigres UANL, Jaguares de Chiapas, Puebla, Atlas and Xolos.
Maradona will also take charge of four fellow countrymen, Gaspar Servio, Luis Jerez, Jorge Cordoba and Facundo Juarez. The current No. 10 on the Asenso MX club is Vinicio Angulo, an Ecuadorian forward that is yet to score this season, but does have 20 career goals with Dorados in 84 games.
Dorados has had some serious offensive issues this season with just two goals scored and Maradona may help motivate some of the forwards on this team. It will be interesting to see how the Argentine manager can help offensive players like Vinicio Angulo, Jose Alberto Garcia and certainly his fellow Argentines Jorge Cordoba and Facundo Juarez.

Jesus Escoboza seems to be one of the more promising players on the team based on recent performances and recent stints with teams like Puebla and Jaguares de Chiapas. It will be interesting to see Maradona’s impact on this squad and if he can at least get the offense going after such a lackluster showing in seven games.
