This Thursday, September 6, 2018, Diego Armando Maradona was announced as the new manager for Dorados de Sinaloa in Mexico in what was a very surprising move. Dorados de Sinaloa is currently in the Ascenso MX, Mexico’s second-tier league and this will be a very tough task for the Argentine icon.
The team from Sinaloa is currently in 13th place in a 15-team league, but has made the round of 16 in the Copa MX competition. Maradona previously had an agreement to be the president of Belarusian team Dynamo Brest, but did manage to opt out of that deal.
The 57-year-old is much better known for his playing career but has had managing ventures with Mandiyu de Corrientes, Racing Club, the Argentina national team, Al-Wasl in Dubai and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.
With Argentina, Maradona reached the quarterfinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and defeated Mexico along the way in the round of 16. La Albiceleste was knocked out with a disappointing 4-0 loss to Germany in what has been the superstar’s most notable managerial job so far.

Maradona will bring in an enormous amount of publicity to Dorados de Sinaloa, but it really is a team that needs to get it together after obtaining just three points in seven games this season.
