Club America is currently in very poor form with just one point from its last two games in the 2018 Apertura competition. Los Azulcremas are coming off a disappointing 2-0 loss against Leon and a surprising 1-1 draw against Queretaro. Both games were away from home and Miguel Herrera’s men will now try and get back on track in front of the home crowd at the Estadio Azteca. Las Aguilas’ main problem recently has been the attack as Oribe Peralta and Roger Martinez have not proved to be very effective. However, Club America does have a much stronger defense and midfield than Pumas, which could prove to be the difference maker.
Pumas UNAM started off the season with three consecutive wins, but is now winless in its last three coming off two consecutive losses, against Monterrey and Queretaro. Pumas has exciting players going forward like Felipe Mora, Martin Rodriguez and Ignacio Malcorra. However, is very limited when it comes to the defense with inexperienced players like Alan Mozo, Pablo Jaquez and Rosario Cota. Spanish centre-back Alejandro Arribas will be back for this game, but Luis Quintana will not be available in the backline. Paraguayan striker Carlos Gonzalez could also miss the game as it is still unclear if he will be able to play, coming off an injury.

The “Clasico Capitalino” is one of the most anticipated games this weekend and should prove to be a very exciting and intense match. Both teams are currently struggling with recent results which raises the stakes of the rivalry game as both teams need a win in Liga MX Play. Club America does the more well-balanced team and will count with the home-field advantage at the Estadio Azteca.
