Leon does have some talented players like Rodolfo Cota, Luis Montes and Mauro Boselli, but has been unable to find a suitable style of play under manager Gustavo Diaz. Leon’s only win in this tournament was a 4-0 victory against Queretaro, but that is an unlikely scoreline against Club America.
Las Aguilas have 10 points from their first five games in the 2018 Apertura with wins against Atlas, Pachuca and Monterrey. Miguel Herrera’s side is coming off a surprising 1-1 draw against Queretaro, but should be able to bounce back after an upsetting result. Alexander Mejia’s presence will be missed even more against a team like America that has midfielders like Guido Rodriguez and Mateus Uribe. Fullback Paul Aguilar is coming off an injury and manager Miguel Herrera has already announced that he will not be available for this game. “Piojo” also announced the inclusion of Carlos Vargas in the starting 11 in place of Luis Reyes in the left-back role. Los Azulcremas have plenty of depth and one of the more stacked squads in the league that should make them the favorites against a team like Leon.

Leon has been struggling heavily this season and should not be able to provide a competitive effort against one of the better teams in the league. FutnSoccer predicts a 3-1 win for Club America in a game that should be pretty straightforward at the Nou Camp.
