This Wednesday, August 7, 2018 (7:30 AM Pacific) North Korea will play Mexico in a group stage match in the 2018 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup at the Stade du Clos Gastel in Lehon, France.
North Korea is a bit of a powerhouse when it comes to the U-20 Women’s World Cup with two championships to its name. The Asian side won it all in 2006 and are the current champions, they also finished fourth in 2014, have made the quarterfinals twice and were the runners-up of the tournament in 2008.
North Korea is not off to the best start as the team lost 3-1 to England in its first game, Ja Un-Yong scored the one goal for Thomas Gerstner’s team in that match. The Asian side still has a very talented team and will be looking for their first points in the tournament after a tough loss.
Mexico started off the World Cup with an impressive 3-2 win against Brazil and will now look to get a win to take charge of this Group B. Both scorers from Mexico’s win against Brazil play with Tigres in the Liga MX Femenil as Katty Martinez scored and Jacqueline Ovalle picked up a brace in that game. Half of the squad does play in the Liga MX Femenil while the other half plays for universities in the United States.
Mexico has never won the competition and its best finish has been in the quarterfinals on three occasions. This team has enough talent to surpass that record and is under good management with Christopher Cuellar, the son of legendary Mexico national team player and longtime women’s football coach Leonardo Cuellar

FutnSoccer predicts a 3-1 win for Mexico in a game that will be crucial in this Group B that seems to be the group of death in the tournament. North Korea has traditionally been a strong team in this tournament, but Mexico seems to have a much better team this time around.
