This Friday, August 3, 2018 (7:00 PM Pacific) Atlas will host Pumas UNAM at the Estadio Jalisco for a game in the third round of matches in the Liga MX 2018 Apertura. Both teams have had very distinct starts to the season from one another in this 2018 Apertura and there is a clear favorite.
Atlas has been one of the worst teams in the Liga MX so far, currently with just a point after two games and no goals scored as well. Los Rojinegros had a scoreless draw against Queretaro in Week 1 and are coming off a disastrous 3-0 loss to Club America at the Estadio Azteca.
Gerardo Espinoza does have some intriguing players at his disposal like Clifford Aboagye, Bryan Garnica, Juan Pablo Vigon and Omar Gonzalez. But the offense has just not looked all that convincing with Raul Rivero up front and Espinoza may need to switch up his lineup this week.
Pumas UNAM has not struggled to score this season at all with seven goals in two games, but its problem lies in the defense. The offense and midfield have exciting and talented players like Carlos Gonzalez, Felipe Mora, Martin Rodriguez, Ignacio Malcorra and Pablo Barrera. However, the backline has very inexperienced players like Alan Mendoza, Luis Quintana and Alan Mozo that can really be a liability.
The Mexico City side is coming off a 5-3 win against Necaxa at home and before that had a 2-0 win against Veracruz at the Estadio Luis “Pirata” Fuente in Week 1. Los Capitalinos are the favorites and will look to stay undefeated up against a very questionable Atlas side.
Prediction
This could potentially be one of the biggest mismatches this week as the away team are the favorites to get the three points at the Estadio Jalisco. FutnSoccer predicts a comfortable 3-1 win for Pumas UNAM as the team should continue to perform even away from home.
