This Wednesday, February 28, 2018 (5:00 PM Pacific) Chivas of Guadalajara will host Cibao at the Estadio Akron for the second leg of a CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16 match. The Mexican side has a 2-0 lead on aggregate heading into the encounter and should provide another convincing performance in this return leg.

Chivas of Guadalajara has been one of the most disappointing teams in the Liga MX Clausura 2018 currently in penultimate place. The CCL seems to be Los Rojiblancos only redemption to this semester as the team is unlikely to make the playoffs in the Liga MX. Matias Almeyda has some decent players but several like Orbelin Pineda have been inconsistent lately. Los Tapatios do have a comfortable 2-0 lead and should come away with a ticket to the quarterfinals despite their current form.

Cibao was unable to use its home-field advantage in the first leg of this series and is now unlikely to make a heroic comeback. Chivas has not been playing great at home this season but a team like Cibao could struggle in this setting especially with a deficit heading into the match. There are not a plethora of notable players on the Dominican side, the most noteworthy name being Argentine goalkeeper Juan Pablo Dominguez. The game should be very straightforward with a clear winner already in mind before the initial whistle at the Estadio Akron.

Chivas vs Cibao Prediction

Chivas of Guadalajara is the favorite and should come away with a win especially in front of the home crowd. FutnSoccer predicts a comfortable 3-1 win for Los Rojiblancos with not many complications for them throughout the 90 minutes.
