Ex-Nigeria international urges EPL midfielder to join Liverpool

Anfield

The Daily Express have broadcasted the words of the former Nigeria international Etim Esin, stating that Leicester City star, Wilfred Ndidi, should join Liverpool next summer after the Merseysiders showed interest in securing his services.

The 21-year-old midfielder has provided some exceptional performances for Leicester since arriving from Genk in January 2017.  Now, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants to bring him to Anfield to replace Emre Can, who is expected to leave for Juventus at the end of the current campaign.

A powerful box-to-box midfielder, Ndidi is recognized as one of the best Premier League players in his position, and he could prove a major reinforcement for the Reds if they manage to pull off this deal.

Esin has now stated his belief that Liverpool should go for his countryman because he possesses the quality to bolster their midfield ranks.

“I can’t remember the last time we had a Nigerian in Liverpool apart from Victor Moses’ brief stint there,” Esin told Nigerian newspaper New Telegraph.

“I don’t think he will struggle at Liverpool, he is a player made for a big club like that and with the role he plays, there is no way he will be sitting on the bench there.”

“He’s certainly not going to be like Kelechi Iheanacho who moved to Leicester to become an option to Jamie Vardy; I see Ndidi walking straight into that Liverpool side.”

However, the Nigeria international won’t come cheap, as according to the Liverpool Echo, the Foxes are looking for at least £50 million in order to let him leave the King Power Stadium.
