Leeds dealt blow ahead of Bristol clash with Heckingbottom’s impending selection headache

Leeds United return to action on Sunday following weekend’s loss at the hands of Sheffield United, and having been winless in their last 8 games, new manager Paul Heckingbottom will be looking to lead his side to victory when they travel to Bristol City.

The Whites are set to be without some key players for the game, further dealing a blow on their chances of picking up important points on the road.

The suspended trio of Samuel Saiz, Liam Cooper and Gaetrano Berardi will all still be unavailable for selection.

Saiz will sit out of his last game following the 6-match ban slapped on him after being sent off for spitting at Newport County’s Robbie Willmott last month.

Cooper also has a game left from the 4-game ban he picked up after his sending off against Millwall, while Berardi serves the 2nd game of his 2-match suspension.

Meanwhile, star defender Luke Ayling remains out for the rest of the season after undergoing ankle surgery, Conor Shaughnessy is expected to be absent, while Kemar Roofe may not make the starting XI after getting withdrawn during the defeat to Sheffield United.

Heckingbottom has a very thin squad to select his starting lineup from, and how his side fares in such a tough game will go a long way in determining his and Leeds’ future.
