Liverpool reportedly ahead of Italian giants in the race for German starlet

Anfield

The Daily Mail have reported that the Premier League giants, Arsenal and Liverpool, have overtaken AC Milan in the race for the highly-rated Schalke playmaker Max Meyer.

The 22-year-old midfielder seems unwilling to extend his contract with the Miners that is set to expire at the end of the season.

The German giants have already tried to persuade Meyer to sign a new deal, but talks are on hold at the moment.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the prosperous youngster and would like to see him in the red shirt next season, as Emre Can appears to be on his way out from Anfield.

However, the Merseysiders will have to beat the severe competition from the Gunners, and the Spanish heavyweights Barcelona according to some late reports.

After missing on Leon Goretzka, who has already accepted Bayern Munich’s proposal, Klopp would hardly give up on another great German talent.
