Tottenham reportedly looking to beat United & Serie A duo to UCL-winner

Kovacic

As per Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic is still very much a transfer target for Tottenham, but the north Londoners have fierce competition to beat.

Manchester United, Inter Milan and Juventus are also keen on the Croatia international, but Spurs are willing to go all out to win the race.

Kovacic, 23, has played just 7 La Liga games this term and could be open to leaving Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the campaign in order to seek regular playing time elsewhere.

Spurs could do with additional and quality legs in the defensive midfield department, and the youngster can help provide both depth and much-needed competition going forward.

Mousa Dembele is beginning to show signs of ageing, while Victor Wanyama picked up a knock at the start of the campaign that ruled him out for many months.

Kovacic brings Champions League experience to the table having featured prominently as Madrid won the European top prize back-to-back in the last 2 campaigns, and he could also help play a huge role in Spurs’ Premier League ambition if he’s snapped up.
