Former Sunderland footballer Emmanuel Eboue has admitted that he is desperate to make a return to the football pitch following a period of difficult struggles in his personal life.

Eboue who was previously a fan-favourite at Arsenal has admitted that he seriously considered suicide after he was left broke following a bitter divorce which also led to him losing contact with his three children.

During his several year spell with Arsenal, Eboue earned seven figure sums of money every year and also bagged £1.5 million a year while he was playing for Galatasary in Turkey.

However his former wife Aurelie was awarded all of the couple’s assets following their divorce and he has also not been able to visit his kids since.

The free agent told French TV show Canal: ‘All I want is to return to football once more. I still possess ability. I would even go to places like Baghdad or Pakistan just to play football. I don’t care where.

‘I live with my bags already packed, as there is a chance I could be kicked out of my house. I don’t have anyone by my side nowadays. I feel abandoned. I used to get on well with my children and my family, and now I am completely alone.’
