Danny Murphy has called Leicester City “ridiculous” after they refused to allow Islam Slimani to join West Ham during the transfer window.
The Foxes reportedly did not allow the transfer to go ahead as owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is still upset by comments which were made by Hammers vice-chairperson Karren Brady after Claudio Ranieri was sacked as manager of the 2015-16 Premier League Champions last season.
The incident was seemingly what caused Srivaddhanaprabha to block the transfer last month and the Algerian striker instead ended up joining Newcastle United on loan till the end of the season.
Murphy feels sympathy with West Ham’s position though. “Well that’s ridiculous,” the former Liverpool midfielder said, when asked for his opinion on Sky Sports’ The Debate.
“It’s ridiculous because if every club didn’t deal with another club because of something in the press that they didn’t like then nobody would do any business with anybody would they?”
