According to reports, Aston Villa wish for Sam Johnstone to remain their first-choice goalkeeper for the long-term.
Johnstone arrived at Villa Park 18 months ago from Manchester United and has impressed during that time.
No goalkeeper has managed to keep more clean-sheets then Johnstone this season and it is no surprise that Villa want to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
Johnstone who is on loan from Manchester United seemingly has no future at Old Trafford considering that he has never made a senior appearance for the Red Devils and lies below David De Gea and Sergio Romero in the clubs pecking order.
“We hope he will be our keeper for the next five years,” said Bruce.
“That would delight me. He is a big tick as far as we are concerned. But whether we can do a deal, we will have to wait until the end of the season.”
