Merson predicts the winner of the clash between Leicester and Everton

Paul Merson has predicted that Leicester City will win when they take on Everton on Wednesday.

The Toffees have not won during their past several Premier League games and are coming off a 1-1 draw with struggling West Brom.

Sam Allardyce’s men will however be boosted by the fact that Seamus Coleman is in line to make his comeback from long-term injury during the game.

The Northern Ireland international has been side lined since he suffered a double knee fracture while on international duty against Wales in March.

Leicester meanwhile are currently in seventh position on the League standings and six points ahead of the Toffees who are languishing in ninth.

Merson said: “Everton desperately need a result. They had that run where we all thought they’d be fine but they are right back in the relegation scrap for me. They’ve had a couple of really bad results recently – they were very fortunate to draw with West Brom at home recently – and I think their poor form will continue against Leicester.’

“Claude Puel’s side will set up on the counter-attack and Everton, at home, will have a go. The crowd will push them forward but that will play into Leicester’s hand because of how well they counter-attack. The likes of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez will also be fresh after being rested at the weekend so I can’t see anything but an away win.”
