According to the Sport 24, Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta is desperate to bring Liverpool star Emre Can to Allianz Stadium next summer.
The 24-year-old midfielder’s contract with the Reds is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and it seems that he is not willing to stay in England after that. Therefore, he is free to negotiate personal terms with interested clubs already this winter.
The Old Lady are known for taking players on free transfers, as they already did the same thing with Can’s international colleagues, Sami Khedira and Benedikt Howedes.
Marotta has stressed his desire to sign the powerful defensive midfielder despite despairing Merseysiders’ efforts to persuade the player to extend his deal.
“We will do everything to take Emre Can,” Marotta told RMC Sport.
“We’ve made the first contacts with his entourage, but it does not mean achieving our goal.”
Some recent reports have implied that Can could move to Italy already this January. However, the former Bayer Leverkusen player is highly-regarded by the manager Jurgen Klopp, who is reluctant to give up on his services this January, especially after losing Philippe Coutinho.
