West Bromhave announced that they have signed Daniel Sturridge on loan from Liverpool till the end of the season.
The Baggies managed to beat off strong competition from the likes of Newcastle, Sevilla and Inter in order to sign the England international who is a major coup for them.
Sturridge has struggled for regular first team football at the Reds this season and had been pushing for a move away from Anfield this entire month in order to boost his chances of winning selection to the England squad that will travel to the 2018 world cup.
The 28-year-old is likely to play regularly for Alan Pardew’s struggling side.
“I hope our fans can understand that we are fighting to stay in the Premier League, not just on the pitch but in the market place as well,” Alan Pardew told the club’s official website.
“This is a big coup for us and I speak for my staff and my players and say ‘thank you’ to Daniel for agreeing to assist us in league and cup. He has fantastic talent and will strengthen our ambitions on both fronts.”
