According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa have joined the race for Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe after missing out on a loan deal for Leicester City’s Leonardo Ulloa.
The 24-year-old forward is a wanted man, with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Watford, and West Bromwich Albion all interested in securing his services before Wednesday night’s deadline.
Afobe is a powerful striker, with lethal finishing and great positional sense. Unfortunately for him, the Cherries manager Eddie Howe has Jermaine Defoe, Callum Wilson, and Josh King, which narrowed down space for the former Arsenal man.
Villa boss Steve Bruce is desperate to find a prolific goalscorer to boost Villa’s hopes of returning to the top-flight next year, as Jonathan Kodjia is expected to miss the rest of the season due to an injury.
However, the Lions will have to beat the fierce competition from Wolves, as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to capture Afobe following Leon Bonatini’s drop in form.
