Manchester United legend Paul Ince has backed the Red Devils to sign Tottenham’s Danny Rose as speculation surrounding the future of the left-back begins to intensify.
Rose caused controversy last summer when he claimed that Spurs do not pay their players sufficiently and added that he would be open to leaving the club if he received an offer from a club that can regularly challenge for trophies.
Meanwhile the England international has been linked with a move to United for months due to Jose Mourinho’s lack of faith in Luke Shaw.
Shaw may not have received regular game time during the first half of the season but his recent performances have improved and are certain to warrant him more game time during the latter parts of the season.
As Shaw is still young, it remains to be seen whether Mourinho will pursue Rose. Ince has backed his former club to sign Rose and said: “It sounds brutal, but that left-back area will surely be one of Jose’s priorities.
“Matteo Darmian has been far from impressive, and I still don’t believe Mourinho thinks Shaw is the answer. Danny Rose is a name that keeps popping up, with him not getting a game at Tottenham, and he would be fantastic at United. If I was Mourinho, I’d be looking to sign him.”
