Aston Villa reportedly set to lose battle to sign EPL striker

According to the Birmingham Mail, Leicester City forward Leonardo Ulloa is close to rejoining his former club Brighton & Hove Albion by the end of the winter transfer session.

The Argentine has been closely monitored by Aston Villa since the beginning of January after manager Steve Bruce identified him as a number one target.

The Lions are experiencing significant troubles in their attacking ranks following the injury of club’s best striker Jonathan Kodjia and frequent fatigue problems of Gabby Agbonlahor.

Scott Hogan has failed to make an impact since arriving from Brentford on the deadline day of the last January transfer market. Because of that, Steve Bruce has been desperately trying to bring the 31-year-old striker to Villa Park.

However, it seems the Claret & Blue Army will remain empty-handed, as the Seagulls are pushing on completing the deal as soon as possible.

Aston Villa are hoping for Premier League promotion this season, but they need a new striker to help them on that road.
