Aston Villa reportedly set sight on promising defender

According to the Scottish Sun, Aston Villa have entered the race for Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna, closely followed by Hull City.

The Scotland U-21 international has had a tremendous first half of the season in the Scottish Premiership, drawing the attention from several clubs from the Sky Bet Championship.

Nigel Adkins has identified the 21-year-old centre-back as a perfect signing to repair his shaky defense. But, Hull City have already seen their last £700,000 offer easily declined by Aberdeen.

The Lions manager Steve Bruce is looking to reinforce his backline ahead of the second half of the season and it seems he is ready to challenge the Tigers for McKenna’s signature.

However, Aston Villa can’t spend money this January due to Financial Fair Play regulations, which may delay the potential move for next summer.

The Dons will give their maximum efforts to hold their rising star, as they are looking to reach European football next season.
