Everton are reportedly eyeing Hoffenheim defender Kevin Vogt as the long-term successor of veteran Ashley Williams.
The Toffees were below par during the first half of the season and their backline in particular looked to be shaky.
Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka and Williams are now well into their 30’s and the time is right for Sam Allardyce’s men to start looking for replacements for the ageing trio.
The Toffees reportedly took notice of Vogt following his performance against Liverpool earlier on this season in a Champions League clash and were impressed by what they had seen.
Vogt is a key player for Hoffenheim and they may be naturally hesitant to lose him, though he is likely to be tempted by the opportunity to play for Everton as well as by the chance to experience Premier League football.
The defender has so far gone on to play 26 games in all competitions this season for Hoffenheim.
