According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are set to overtake Liverpool in the race for Leicester City hotshot Riyad Mahrez.
The same source reports that Mahrez has attended the Wednesday’s match between the Gunners and Chelsea implying the Algerian forward might be considering a move to Emirates.
Since the beginning of the January transfer window, media all across the UK have been connecting the 26-year-old winger with a transfer to Liverpool.
However, Jurgen Klopp has not made a concrete move towards Mahrez ever since Philippe Coutinho left Anfield to join Barcelona.
On the other hand, Arsene Wenger is determined to bolster his squad ahead of the second half of the season. The Gunners have already lost Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United, taking Henrikh Mkhitaryan in return.
The French expert is willing to splash some cash to strengthen his attacking ranks, and Mahrez could be the right profile. Klopp will have to shift up a gear if he wants to avoid remaining empty-handed
