According to Bet Victor, Celtic have been priced favourites to land Dundee centre-back Jack Hendry before the January transfer window shuts.
The Hoops are ahead of bitter rivals Rangers and English Premier League quartet Newcastle United, Bournemouth, West Ham and Crystal Palace in the betting race for 22-year-old.
The Dark Blues are holding out for £1.5million for Hendry whom manager Brendan Rodgers hugely admires, but Celtic have already tabled £800,000.
Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are said to be preparing to pay £1million for the Scotland youth international, but it remains unclear if Rangers, West Ham or Newcastle are still actively in the race for his signature, even though the Daily Mail claims so.
Hendry’s performances thus far this term indicate that he could go ahead to become one of the best centre-backs in the land going forward.
His playing style is akin to Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk who has gone on to become the world’s most expensive defender just few years after leaving Parkhead.
The race for Hendry’s signature is more than fierce, and Celtic will have to be more convincing at the negotiation table if they are to land him despite being bookmarker’s favourites.
