Everton reportedly keen on returning for signature of striker earmarked as Lukaku’s replacement

According to IBT, Everton are ready to return for the signature of Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar this month after considering him last summer as they searched for Romelu Lukaku’s replacement.

The 24-year-old Senegal international is a subject of a £15million bid from Crystal Palace, but the Toffees are looking to pip them to his services as manager Sam Allardyce looks to further bolster his attack.

A combined £45million has been spent on Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott this window, but Big Sam is leaving no stone unturned.

Babacar has bagged 27 Serie A goals since arriving Fiorentina in 2014 – a decent return for a striker that notched 20 Serie B goals for Modena in 2013.

He has started just 3 games across all competitions this term, and will most likely to allowed to leave if he so desires.

AS Roma are also keen on Babacar as they look to replace Chelsea-bound Edin Dzeko, and Everton will have to beat fierce competition to his signature.

The finishing and physicality of the Senegalese suggest he could be a hit at Goodison Park, and his ability to make an impact from the bench could help provide quality depth.
