Tottenham boost as top suitors pull out of race for PFA Team of the Year star

Tottenham have been handed a boost as Manchester United have effectively dropped interest in Danny Rose putting recent comments from manager Jose Mourinho into consideration.

The 27-year-old has been linked with an Old Trafford switch since last summer, with the Red Devils seeking for a replacement for Luke Shaw.

However, Shaw has since turned his fortune and Manchester United career around with a string of fine performances that have left Mourinho in awe of the 22-year-old.

The Portuguese declared ahead of his side’s weekend’s clash with Burnley: “I can say that in this moment I don’t see many left-backs better than this Luke Shaw.

“He had played very well. He was already improving and playing well when I start playing him after that long spell without minutes.

“I remember the first time he was coming step by step, and now with a good run of matches and continuity, he is solid.

“Physically much better, mentally much stronger, tactically understanding the game much better and what we need in different phases and circumstances. I’m really happy.”

Rose was also linked with the likes of Juventus, Manchester City and Chelsea, but United were his top suitors given their dire need for another left-back at the time.

While the 2-time PFA Team of the Year star has played just 5 Premier League games since returning from injury, he is still an integral part of the Spurs set up and would still play a huge role in their campaign.

A move away from north London won’t likely happen this window for Rose, and the depth and experience he offers will boost the team until at least summer.
