Leeds and West Ham reportedly want striker with 18 league goals this term

As per The Sun, West Ham have joined Leeds and a clutch of others in the race to secure the services of Peterborough centre-forward Jack Marriott this month.

The Hammers could lose both Javier Hernandez and Diafra Sakho this window, and manager David Moyes is looking to land attacking reinforcements.

Marriott, 23, has been scouted by West Ham in recent weeks following an impressive campaign that has seen him rack up 18 league goals and 6 in other competitions.

Besides Leeds, the east Londoners also have Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Leeds, QPR and Millwall to battle for the signature of the League One highest goalscorer.

Leeds want more goals in order to keep their Premier League promotion hopes alive, and the Peterborough sensation seems like the ideal candidate to help with the task.

Marriott would likely prefer a step up to Championship football to the Premier League’s given the gulf in quality between the two, meaning Leeds having a greater chance of landing the Englishman.

With Palace considering a £7million bid, though, both sides might need to outbid the Eagles to have a clearer shot.
