Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly ahead of Sunderland in the race to sign Derby County striker Chris Martin this month.

The Rams are likely to be open to receiving offers for the Scottish international after they brought in Cameron Jerome to compete with Matej Vydra in attack.

Sunderland are keen to strengthen their frontline especially after they lost their top scorer this season Lewis Grabban, who has been recalled by Bournemouth.

In addition to this, manager Chris Coleman also sold James Vaughn to Wigan this month. Coleman was looking to recruit Martin as he looks to save the Black Cats from relegation this season.

Wolves likewise are in the market for a new forward as they look to ensure that they win the Championship title this season and ensure promotion to the Premier League.

Leo Bonatini has also now gone ten games without scoring a goal while Rafa  Mir has only recently arrived in England and will take time to adapt.
