According to the reputable Goal.com, Celtic are interested in bringing Borussia Dortmund outcast Neven Subotic at Celtic Park this January.
The French portal Butfootballclub have originally published the news, stating that Saint-Etienne are in front for the 29-year-old defender’ signature.
The reports imply Celtic would have to pay €3 million if they want to acquire Subotic’s services.
The German heavyweights have recently signed Manuel Akanji from Basel, which closed the door for Subotic.
The Serbia international has been struggling with injuries this season, and he is expected to leave Signal Iduna Park during the winter transfer session.
The Hooks’ manager Brendan Rodgers has already brought RB Leipzig defender Marvin Compper earlier this month, but he is looking for another centre-back after Erik Sviatchenko left the club to join his former club Midtjylland.
Jozo Simunovic is also on his way out, which leaves the space for another defender to arrive.
However, this is still just a rumor, and it would be interesting to see whether Rodgers would be willing to bet on an injury-prone Subotic.
