As per West Ham World, English Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on signing West Ham centre-back Jose Fonte for £6million this transfer window.
Table-topping Wolves are unbeaten in the league since October, and are looking to return to the topflight in grand style.
As a result, manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants to further strengthen his squad, with the heart of the defence top priority despite shipping just 20 goals in 27 games.
Being a Portuguese like the Wolves boss, Fonte is a preferred choice as the language barrier wouldn’t be an issue.
The 33-year-old arrived at London Stadium from Southampton for £8million exactly a year ago and hasn’t particularly established himself as a key player.
Fonte is currently out injured, and doesn’t seem to be a big part of manager David Moyes’ plans, given how he has failed thus far to replicate his pre-Euros 2016 form.
West Ham owner David Sullivan revealed weeks ago that his sons begged him not to sanction the signings of the Portugal international and Robert Snodgrass, and it won’t come as a surprise if both parties are willing to part ways this month.
