West Ham reportedly keen on £2.5million-rated 22-year-old in what could be bargain-of-the-window move

As per West Ham World, West Ham are interested in making a January move for Rio Ave centre-back Nelson Monte with scouting mission ongoing in Portugal.

The 22-year-old has impressed Hammers representatives who have run the rule over him in a couple of games, and he could be available for as little as £2.5million this window.

Monte, who can also fill in at right-back, has played 10 league games this term for 5th-placed Aves and in 2 cup games, with his quality suggesting he would be a huge bargain for the quoted price.

The ageing and injury-prone West Ham backline can sure do with quality long-term replacements, and the Portuguese can come in this window as a capable backup as the club prepare for the future.

Monte, a Benfica product, is adept at bringing the ball from the back, starting attacks from his position as a result, while his passing ability makes him a solid ball-playing defender.

With the Hammers yet to make any signing this window, the Portuguese starlet could be a perfect choice to make.
