West Ham are reportedly considering Newcastle’s Christian Atsu as a potential replacement for Andre Ayew. After months of speculation surrounding his future, Ayew is set to join Swansea this month.
With Michail Antonio regularly suffering injury setbacks, David Moyes is said to be keen to strengthen his wing options in order to ensure that his side avoids relegation this season.
A swoop for Atsu however only looks likely should the Hammers fail in their pursuit of first-choice target AdamaTraore of Middlesbrough.
Atsu delivered one of his best performances against the Hammers last month as he scored a goal and set up another as Rafa Benitez’s side completed a dramatic 3-2 win.
The 26-year-old has made 19 League appearances this season, scoring two goals. His move to the Magpies was only made permanent last summer following a successful loan spell from Chelsea.
Benitez did however indicate that he will only allow players to leave his squad this month if immediate replacements are readily available.
