West Ham reportedly looking to beat competition to £14million-rated La Liga left-back

According to TEAMtalk, West Ham are keen on bringing Celta Vigo left-back Jonny Castro to the London Stadium this window having failed to during summer.

The £14million-rated Spanish defender dreams about playing in the Premier League, but the Hammers will have to beat AS Roma and Atletico Madrid to his signature as they are also interested.

Castro’s agent Joseba Diaz has revealed that talks have been held with all 3 top suitors looking to land his client, and a decision will be reached in the coming days.

Despite naturally being a left-back, the Spain under-21 international can also play at the right and his versatility should benefit West Ham in various ways.

The ageing Pablo Zabaleta has played in every of the club’s Premier League match this term, and preparing a long-term replacement in Castro for the Argentine is only pertinent.

While the Vigo-born 23-year-old is defensively solid at the back, his attacking quality suggests he can also provide a top service going forward, and that should come handy for a West Ham in need of more goals.
