Tim Sherwood has said that he believes that Everton should not make a move for Arsenal’s Theo Walcott this month.
Walcott is expected to soon end his 12-year-spell with the Gunners as he has struggled to earn regular game time under Arsene Wenger this season and the Toffees are currently the favourites to sign him.
The Toffees have been largely underwhelming in terms of their performances this season and have lost their past four games in all competitions.
Sherwood however believes that Sam Allardyce should back his current squad to get them out of the situation which they find themselves in.
The former Spurs and Aston Villa boss believes that Ademola Lookman is good enough to step into the first team and believes that he could perform a similar function to Walcott.
“I wouldn’t block it up,” Sherwood said. “I would keep Lookman and Bolasie. I don’t think Theo is guaranteed [to be a success]. You might as well go with a kid who is going to develop.”
