Tony Cottee has said that Swansea’s Alfie Mawson would be a good signing for Everton.
Cottee believes that the Toffees need to bolster their side with their defence being a particular area of concern.
“I think Everton badly need a new central defender to replace Jagielka and Williams and to build a relationship with Michael Keane,” he wrote in his regular column for Sporting Bet.
“I think Alfie Mawson could be a good signing for Everton.”
The Merseysiders did manage to sign Michael Keane during the summer from Burnley but he has clearly struggled to make the desired impact.
With Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams in their backline, they also have one of the oldest defences in the Premier League.
Mawson is thought to be worth around £25 million, however the Swans may be hesitant to sell him this month as they are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.
