Sporting Lisbon’s Gelson Martins has a £53 million release clause but Liverpool are only willing to fork out half of that according to the Mirror.
Liverpool were linked with Martins during the summer transfer window but instead ended up signing Mohamed Salah from Roma.
Salah has since proven to be one of the best signings of the summer as he has gone on to notch 23 goals in all competitions thus far.
With Philippe Coutinho having recently joined Barcelona, Liverpool may need to bring in new attacking reinforcements to their side.
Martins is likely to be willing to move to Liverpool considering that it will allow him to experience Premier League football and in addition to this, the Anfield giants are reportedly also willing to offer him five times the amount in wages that he currently earns at Lisbon.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is also reportedly keen to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal but faces competition from Manchester United and Manchester City.
